Music for Kids
We realized one day that we had a few songs that might be fun to play for some of our favorite kids. And that, if we wrote a few more, we might have enough to make a whole CD of songs for kids! So we (mostly Sarah, actually) set about writing more songs, finished the CD - which we called Roosters, Ravens, & Redwood Trees, sent it out to some nieces and nephews, and started to play the songs at kindergartens and preschools in the area. The kids seemed to enjoy the songs, and we enjoyed playing them for such an appreciative audience.. We have since played at puppet shows, libraries, and the local natural history museum. We have also started to work on a more participatory approach, including having the kids play music together using instruments found in nature. We continue to write songs, and expect to complete a CD of lullabies soon!
